Thanks - I enjoy the blog as it helps me remember and think about the meals - I also have met some cool people in the cities I visit because of it. Glad you enjoy, and if you're ever in Columbus looking for a lettuce party let me know - it'll be the first ever and we can invite the Walmart cashiers. :-)

hahaha, celery and lettuce party! why not!? I once was stocking up on a whipped cream product that I loved (now discontinued) and was so intimidated by the grocer's question about my 6 tubs that I stuttered "Yes, um, I'm making a cake. For my sister's wedding." geeeez.

You're certainly a very trim guy. I suspect that like me, your stomach has practice fitting a lot because you often eat healthy, high volume/ low calorie foods. Since I can down a couple pounds of vegetables for dinner at home, I can also fit quite a few courses in during a meal out. Ultimately, your posts are marvelous to read since you get such a thorough experience of these restaurants. no messing around

I think the issue at hand is that I do not look capable of eating much - I'm 6'2 and 170. I didn't really think much of it in the past, but having now eaten with (and vastly outeaten) some serious "foodies" and doing 29-32 courses at The French Laundry and Per Se with ease I find that I definitely can eat more than average.

The people at the grocery store drive me nuts. I'm buying 20lbs of frozen vegetables, 6 heads of lettuce, and 6 stalks of celery plus fruit and eggs and they ask "having a party?" Who would go to that party?? :)

As for the male/female difference - as long as you are doing life the healthy way the rest of the time I see no reason to not enjoy all you can when dining out.

I feel like servers should know better than to comment on how much a diner has eaten...although it sounds like your server was friendly and jovial about it, the fact that he commented on your appetite multiple times would have made me uncomfortable, or annoyed. But then again I am a girl, and it is probably more of a social faux pas to remark that a girl has eaten a lot. It's the same for me with the cashiers at trader joes/ whole foods who feel compelled to comment and inquire on what I am buying. just hush!
