Meals past/Meals future, A Public Service Announcement.

When I started this blog I did so for fun – as a way to preserve memories and to focus my mind on the sometimes transient (and sometimes transcendent) experiences behind me.  I later found that by sharing my experiences I was helping others, both the people going to the restaurant and those running the restaurant, and through that I’ve made some great friends in a variety of cities.  In many ways this blog gives back as much as it takes to maintain…

As of tomorrow I depart on my first vacation in 4 months to visit my sister, family, and friends in Chicago and upon my return the blog will revert to its old/wordy format…but with that being said, something will be lost; a handful of meals from May 17th to July 4 ranging from DC to Baltimore to Philadelphia in one trip, New York/New Jersey in another, and finally a cross country jaunt from Louisville to Phoenix by way of St. Louis, Kansas City, Santa Fe, and more.  The reasons for this decision include but are not limited to the Los Angeles Kings miraculous run to the Stanley Cup, a cross country move and home purchase, the endocrine boards, and “life” in general.  Sure, some of these meals (Blanca, Rogue24) have already received copious posts and a few others (Blue Hill at Stone Barns and The American Restaurant to be sure) will as well, but the others will unfortunately be relegated to a picture stream, plate descriptions, and a summary.  As always, comments posted will be answered swiftly so if there are questions I encourage you to post.

As always, I thank you all for reading – discounting the spam bots this site will have generated damn near 750,000 million hits by year’s end – and while I still cannot figure out why so many people value my random wordiness I’m happy to be able to give back and look forward to hearing from and/or meeting many of you in the months and meals to come.

  1. I’m looking forward to your thoughts on EL Ideas this time around. It is now one of my all time favorites and I would have probably never dined there without this site. Thanks and enjoy your time off!

  2. I have to say thank you for sharing such detailed and thoughtful posts (and for your advice/suggestions on Chowhound). I stumbled onto your site a couple of years ago and it was a valuable resource when I was planning my own eating experiences in San Francisco and Chicago. Thanks again and all the best in 2013! Smilie: :)
