Serving Las Vegas for nearly forty years one might assume Metro Pizza has the delivery game down to a science, and with National Pizza Day on Saturday it seemed only right to #supportlocal on Friday with five Pies plus Meatballs, Pasta and Salad.
By far one of city’s easiest caterers to work with, an e-mail typically answered within a couple hours by Sara, it is at almost any budget that Metro can coordinate delivery from one of four locations, the online menu offering a wide array of family-size dishes though making a few requests and letting the well-trained staff take it from there is usually the safest route to ensure there is plenty of everything.
Never late or forgetting anything across seven events, a delivery driver named Damien this time arriving ten minutes early with plates, utensils, extra Sauce and Condiments, it was with everything unboxed that attendees dug in, John Arena’s assertion that Pizza changes in the box perhaps true to a degree, but slices of the 86th Street Sicilian nonetheless piping hot and lighter than anyone would guess, one speaker commenting this was her new favorite Pizza in town and that she “didn’t even know Metro made square Slices…” a follower as yet unpurchased by happytummy and unlokt, perhaps?
Straying from the typical for additional Pies, though The Green Valley remains a necessity for Vegetarians, it was with skepticism that some eyed the Cicero before finding sidecars of Sauce, many then spreading the word to others and each hefty wedge gone in an hour with many comparing the texture to a Panini or “Cheesy Bread.”
Not expecting some to understand Mike’s Hot Honey on a Pizza, and thoroughly surprised when Metro’s new Zamboni was the first Pie gone, it was from Pasta and Meatballs with almost no binder that others got their fill, though those still sticking to New Year’s Resolutions were happy to find Chopped Salad with Metro’s house Italian Dressing that always finds itself going home with someone at day’s end.
N/A: Making it blog policy to not ‘rate’ places based on catering alone there is a reason John and Sam have been successfully serving Las Vegas for so long, a good part of it skill and doing things the right way, but also by hiring good people like Sara and focusing on the customer to deliver on their promises no matter how big or small the budget.
RECOMMENDED: 86th Street Square Pie, Meatballs, Zamboni, Cicero, Chopped Salad.
