small plates concept while focusing on his interpretation of the cuisine of Turkey, Greece, and Lebanon \u2013 cuisines that I\u2019d experienced but never truly delved into due to lack of those populations in my place of residence.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">  <\/span><span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> <\/span>With Mike Isabella, a name known to many from Top Chef, helming the kitchen I was told that Zaytinya has been quite busy recently and sure enough the place was full both inside and out throughout most of my 75 minute meal.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">  <\/span>Energetic but not loud I found the seats to be well spaced, the servers quite educated, and the music authentic to the restaurant\u2019s concept without being obtrusive.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">  <\/span>Multi-layered much like Jaleo the room\u2019s blue and white d\u00e9cor and lighting provided by floor to ceiling windows added to its Eastern Mediterranean feel.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\"><\/span> <\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/_xdnxgKcsXfw\/S_mC8gh0IWI\/AAAAAAAAFkY\/4CYs62nQ9MI\/s1600\/015+-+Inside.JPG\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"WIDTH: 320px; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5474550805081834306\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/_xdnxgKcsXfw\/S_mC86m7Q0I\/AAAAAAAAFkg\/QLSUskZccz0\/s320\/016+-+Table.JPG\" \/><\/noscript><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\">\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\">Browsing the menu and gauging my hunger I opted to order a couple courses at a time \u2013 most pre-determined from ogling the online menu but one dictated by a choice made by one of the neighboring tables.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">  <\/span>With water filled my friendly server, a self admitted native of Turkey, dropped off the house signature airy pillows of house-made pita and a small bowl of Greek olive oil and a \u201cZ\u201d of pomegranate vinegar.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">  <\/span>Having considered a spread to go with the bread I quickly decided against that option on tasting the oil and vinegar \u2013 it was heavenly and on its own pushed me to consume two baskets of bread.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\"><\/span> <\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\"><span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"><a href=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/_xdnxgKcsXfw\/S_mDkxzQViI\/AAAAAAAAFkw\/t0GHFUtmANg\/s1600\/017+-+Oil+and+Pita+(2).JPG\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"WIDTH: 320px; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5474550806534717698\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/_xdnxgKcsXfw\/S_mC9ABUgQI\/AAAAAAAAFko\/i3J9TZUnYZs\/s320\/017+-+Oil+and+Pita+(1).JPG\" \/><\/noscript><\/a><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\"><span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"><\/span><\/span> <\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\"><span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\">Beginning my proper courses was the pairing of Seasonal Mushrooms saut\u00e9ed with dates and toasted almonds alongside Octopus Santorini with marinated onions, capers, yellow split pea puree.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">  <\/span>Beginning first with the Mushrooms \u2013 a m\u00e9lange of five varieties saut\u00e9ed in olive oil and pan fried to perfection, the earthy mushrooms were beautifully complemented by small sweet bits of dates while the crunchy almonds lent textural diversity and a degree of saltiness.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">  <\/span>Moving on to the Octopus, a \u201chouse favorite\u201d according to my server, it truly was an exceptional dish and a must order.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">  <\/span>Featuring a large portion of poached-then-grilled octopus I loved the way in which the supple and sweet protein was complimented by pungent onions and salty capers while the vegetal yet sweet pea puree proved a competent balance for the char.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\"><\/span> <\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/_xdnxgKcsXfw\/S_mDlK-tgmI\/AAAAAAAAFk4\/JxLEycrFkz4\/s1600\/018+-+Seasonal+Mushrooms+saut%C3%A9ed,+dates,+toasted+almonds.JPG\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"WIDTH: 320px; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5474551505432833010\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/_xdnxgKcsXfw\/S_mDlrnna_I\/AAAAAAAAFlA\/z2BXYofN3Ck\/s320\/019+-+Octopus+Santorini+grilled+octopus,+marinated+onions,+capers,+yellow+split+pea+puree.JPG\" \/><\/noscript><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\">\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\">Delighted thus far I proceeded to order two more dishes \u2013 the Midyes fried mussels with walnut tarator sauce and the Crispy sweetbreads with orange, caper, and baby fennel.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">  <\/span>Coated with chickpea flour and flash fried I must say I liked the overall flavor of the mussels and the walnut sauce was quite unexpected in its sweetness \u2013 almost a walnut-butter with hints of lemon and garlic.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">  <\/span>Unfortunately for the mussels they were paired with something that made them almost forgettable \u2013 the best fried preparation of sweetbreads to grace my palate in some time.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">  <\/span>Meltingly smooth on the interior with a delicate yet crispy crust the unctuous offal mingled wonderfully with the sweet orange, spicy peppers, and salty capers while the whole dish was grounded nicely by the mellow (and unexpectedly fried) fennel.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\"><\/span> <\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/_xdnxgKcsXfw\/S_mDl3w_FRI\/AAAAAAAAFlI\/3lLSxi0L5c8\/s1600\/020+-+Midyes+fried+mussels,+walnut+tarator+sauce.JPG\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"WIDTH: 320px; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5474553195488637170\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/_xdnxgKcsXfw\/S_mFIDkUcPI\/AAAAAAAAFlg\/2SFQIYzl50Y\/s320\/024+-+Turkish+Delight+(1).JPG\" \/><\/noscript><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\">\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\">Arriving just as I finished the Turkish Delight was the last dish of the meal \u2013 an option from the brunch menu and the best item of a meal containing nothing but great food.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">  <\/span>Entitled Tiganites or Greek Style pancakes with Greek Yogurt, Honey, and Cherrie the primary constituent of the dish was three impossibly light lemon accented pancakes with distinctive hints of olive oil.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">  <\/span>Resting beneath the pancakes was a creamy yogurt with hints of citrus and a small pile of warm poached Cherries and alongside was 2-3 tbsp of warmed lavender honey in a small dish.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">  <\/span>First tasting the pancakes solo and then topping them with the cherries and honey I can only say that these were the best textured pancakes I\u2019ve had in well over a year and the flavors complimented one another exquisitely.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\"><\/span> <\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/_xdnxgKcsXfw\/S_mFIuErvWI\/AAAAAAAAFlo\/_rCz6XM8DsI\/s1600\/025+-+Tiganites+Greek+Style+pancake,+Greek+Yogurt,+Honey,+Currants+(1).JPG\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"WIDTH: 240px;
