HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5488997976843915154\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/_xdnxgKcsXfw\/TCzWk_aej5I\/AAAAAAAAGRU\/OMI24jetibw\/s320\/002+-+Primanti+Exterior+(1).JPG\" \/><\/noscript><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\"><\/span> <\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\">The legend of Primanti Bros. and their original cart in the Strip District in the 1930&#8217;s has been well documented \u2013 featured on no less than 5 Food Network programs the history of Joe Primanti and his hefty sandwiches loaded with fresh cut fries, sweet slaw, and plenty of toppings is perhaps the most legendary in the Pittsburgh dining scene.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">  <\/span>Driving up from Columbus early on a Monday morning we decided to kick off our trip with the legendary (albeit revised) original location \u2013 a small bar on 18th Street, at the heart of the Strip District.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">  <\/span>Arriving at 9am we arrived between breakfast and lunch and found easy free parking before making our way into the heavily wooded and entirely homey feeling bar.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\"><\/span> <\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/_xdnxgKcsXfw\/TCzWlwfjuXI\/AAAAAAAAGRk\/m2Ug5D3M1hE\/s1600\/003+-+Primanti+Interior+(2).JPG\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"WIDTH: 320px; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5488997990018562418\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/_xdnxgKcsXfw\/TCzWlwfjuXI\/AAAAAAAAGRk\/m2Ug5D3M1hE\/s320\/003+-+Primanti+Interior+(2).JPG\" \/><\/noscript><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\">\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\">Finding the location surprisingly empty (we were the only patrons) I was a bit put off as the two older ladies behind the register eyed us without saying a word.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">  <\/span>Making our way further into the restaurant and chuckling at the legendary Pittsburgh caricatures lining the walls I rather guessed that the 24-hour nature of Primanti Brothers had left us with employees at the beginning or end of a shift as it actually required a concerted effort to place an order.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">  <\/span>Not wanting to get filled up as we had a whole day of eating and museum hopping ahead of us we opted for a single sandwich and two \u201cpops\u201d to which our cashier stated \u201cis that it?\u201d almost incredulously.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\"><\/span> <\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/_xdnxgKcsXfw\/TCzWlSdm3AI\/AAAAAAAAGRc\/iE56Rff3rfc\/s1600\/004+-+Bacon,+Egg,+Cheese+(1).JPG\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"WIDTH: 320px; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5488997981957315586\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/_xdnxgKcsXfw\/TCzWlSdm3AI\/AAAAAAAAGRc\/iE56Rff3rfc\/s320\/004+-+Bacon,+Egg,+Cheese+(1).JPG\" \/><\/noscript><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\">\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\">Undeterred we sat down and waited while our sandwich was prepped, dressed, and brought to the table on white paper.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">  <\/span>By the time our sandwich had arrived another couple groups had entered the restaurant and our server\u2019s mood began to soften \u2013 a little.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">  <\/span>Presented with a smile our Bacon, Egg, and Cheese sandwich was quite good.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">  <\/span>Thick yet yielding the white bread provided a great transport medium that stood up well to the sweet and savory slaw, crispy golden fries, salty bacon, creamy egg, and (honestly) somewhat underwhelming cheese.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">  <\/span>Divided amongst the three of us the sandwich was enough to get a taste of what the restaurant was all about and enough for me to say the food largely makes<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">  <\/span>up for the service.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">  <\/span>Much like many \u201clegendary\u201d restaurants (Tony Packo\u2019s, Central Grocery, etc) the food at Primanti\u2019s isn\u2019t going to blow your mind \u2013 but the setting, style, and experience are definitely something to witness when you\u2019re visiting from out of town.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\"><\/span> <\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/_xdnxgKcsXfw\/TCzWmXvvUbI\/AAAAAAAAGRs\/3pfxZYJFDpA\/s1600\/007+-+Exterior+Enrico+Biscotti.JPG\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"WIDTH: 320px; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5488998000555413938\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/_xdnxgKcsXfw\/TCzWmXvvUbI\/AAAAAAAAGRs\/3pfxZYJFDpA\/s320\/007+-+Exterior+Enrico+Biscotti.JPG\" \/><\/noscript><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\">\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\">Making our way out of Primanti\u2019s the next stop on our list was another stop well thought of by locals \u2013 Enrico Biscotti Company.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">  <\/span>Featuring house made, old school, all natural, hand cut Italian treats I rather expected to enter a large rustic space full off cakes, cookies, and confections \u2013 and to that end we most certainly weren\u2019t disappointed.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">  <\/span>Greeted by a friendly young man as we watched two young ladies cut biscotti in the back I asked about a number of items that were not clearly marked and the three of us eventually settled on four separate options.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">  <\/span>Paying with credit (I was actually amazed how many spots in the Burgh were cash only) we made our way to the car and drove to the National Aviary where we\u2019d enjoy the desserts while waiting for the exhibits to open.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\"><\/span> <\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/_xdnxgKcsXfw\/TCzWmjo9nRI\/AAAAAAAAGR0\/h3YkgxUUlYI\/s1600\/008+-+Interior+Biscotti+(1).JPG\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"WIDTH: 320px; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5488998003748216082\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/_xdnxgKcsXfw\/TCzWmjo9nRI\/AAAAAAAAGR0\/h3YkgxUUlYI\/s320\/008+-+Interior+Biscotti+(1).JPG\" \/><\/noscript><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\">\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\">Having heard great things about the Chocolate Ravioli I\u2019d ordered one \u2013 or at least I thought I did.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">  <\/span>Taking a bite we\u2019d clearly received the wrong order as the filling of the crisp and buttery shell yielded candied lemon peel.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">  <\/span>Tasty, sweet, but definitely not what I\u2019d expected.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">  <\/span>Moving on to the next taste, a dish described as \u201cStrawberry Soft Biscotti\u201d we were yet again duped, but this time in a good way.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">  <\/span>Sweet and cakelike this \u201cbiscotti\u201d was most certainly not Strawberry but instead a sweet and complex amalgam of maraschino cherry and pistachio.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">  <\/span>The best of our four options and also the most filling of the group I was quite happy with the biscotti while my mother and sister remained underwhelmed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\"><\/span> <\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/_xdnxgKcsXfw\/TCzXszI1WUI\/AAAAAAAAGSM\/2yoGnOOLiec\/s1600\/011+-+Lemon+Ravioli.JPG\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"WIDTH: 320px; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5488999196320822658\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/_xdnxgKcsXfw\/TCzXr-UbdYI\/AAAAAAAAGR8\/qTnyoKVJ7pg\/s320\/009+-+Cherry+Soft+Biscotti.JPG\" \/><\/noscript><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\">\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\">Moving on to our second pair of selections, the drier of the options, we started with the \u201cBanana Walnut Biscotti.\u201d<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">  <\/span>Tasting minimally like banana, less like walnut, and mostly like a good sugar cookie all I can say is that it was nicely textured plain biscotti \u2013 I\u2019m not sure if this was another mistake in our order or simply a lack of pronounced flavors.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">  <\/span>Following the biscotti was a \u201cBlackberry drop\u201d Scone \u2013 a sugary biscuit with lush pockets of butter and thick whole blackberries \u2013 it was excellent.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\"><\/span> <\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/_xdnxgKcsXfw\/TCzXsUBwEBI\/AAAAAAAAGSE\/6H63sOdQTzI\/s1600\/010+-+Banana+Walnut+Biscotti.JPG\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"WIDTH: 320px;
