HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5557040643896024786\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/_xdnxgKcsXfw\/TR6TBe3UntI\/AAAAAAAAHbM\/fQSDPsw5T2w\/s320\/019%2B-%2BMorels%2B%252810%2529.JPG\" \/><\/noscript><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\"><\/span> <\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\">\u2026as it turns out there is more than one Morel\u2019s French Steakhouse \u2013 when I made Brunch reservations for our third day in Las Vegas I really had no idea\u2026not until we walked by the familiar fa\u00e7ade four days later at The Grove in Los Angeles.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">  <\/span>While not as high profile as other restaurants on the Las Vegas culinary landscape a quick browse of the menu and positive words from a friend combined with early opening hours (8am) made brunch a logical choice\u2026besides, I love French food and I\u2019d already tasted \u201cthe best\u201d of Sin City\u2019s breakfast and brunch scene.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\"><\/span> <\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/_xdnxgKcsXfw\/TR6TA6gEcOI\/AAAAAAAAHa0\/sSYmJfIFuK0\/s1600\/019%2B-%2BMorels%2B%25281%2529.JPG\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"WIDTH: 320px; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5557040634134819042\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/_xdnxgKcsXfw\/TR6TA6gEcOI\/AAAAAAAAHa0\/sSYmJfIFuK0\/s320\/019%2B-%2BMorels%2B%25281%2529.JPG\" \/><\/noscript><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\">\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\">Arriving at eight on the dot we actually presented to closed doors \u2013 no worries though, they\u2019d open only minutes later.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">  <\/span>Making our way into the vast confines of the restaurant we stated our names, though reservations clearly were not necessary.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">  <\/span>Led to a comfortable 4-top near the large glass windows we marveled at the black and white tiled floor, raw bar, cheese bar, cork wreath, chandeliers, and generally lovely layout of the space.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">  <\/span>Greeted quickly by our server, Gina G, we were provided with menus and water was filled for us all while the others opted for Orange Juice, Hot Tea, and a specialty French Press of Rwandan Komera coffee \u2013 a bold citrus blend with plenty of body that didn\u2019t really appeal to me, but my mother enjoyed a lot.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\"><\/span> <\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/_xdnxgKcsXfw\/TR6TBe_04mI\/AAAAAAAAHbE\/tNVuVoQovvs\/s1600\/019%2B-%2BMorels%2B%25283%2529.JPG\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"WIDTH: 320px; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5557040643931693666\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/_xdnxgKcsXfw\/TR6TBe_04mI\/AAAAAAAAHbE\/tNVuVoQovvs\/s320\/019%2B-%2BMorels%2B%25283%2529.JPG\" \/><\/noscript><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\">\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\">Browsing the menu of both traditional and non-traditional bistro fare we settled on a pair of sweets and a pair of savories to be shared around.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">  <\/span>With service good throughout the meal there were two small issues considering only one other table was seated during the entirety of our brunch \u2013 the first being the fact that my water actually reached empty twice and the second when one of the ancillary staff nearly filled my sister\u2019s tea with coffee.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">  <\/span>With light classical playing overhead it would be approximately 15 minutes before our plates would arrive.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\"><\/span> <\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/_xdnxgKcsXfw\/TR6TBM3Ym_I\/AAAAAAAAHa8\/3RDScMjXGZE\/s1600\/019%2B-%2BMorels%2B%25282%2529.JPG\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"WIDTH: 320px; a Croque Madame with Country Ham, Gruy\u00e8re Cheese, Sauce Mornay,Crispy Sourdough, Fried Egg and a side of Pommes Frites with organic Heinz ketchup.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">  <\/span>While the frites were largely a miss \u2013 hot but somewhat anemic and flavorless, the sandwich was actually quite good, albeit lightly topped.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">  <\/span>With two thin slices of rich ham and an equal portion of Gruyere sandwiched between the crispy bread, the highlight of the dish was unquestionably the lovely Mornay and creamy egg yolk.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\"><\/span> <\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\"><span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> <a href=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/_xdnxgKcsXfw\/TR6TB--aLwI\/AAAAAAAAHbU\/rT3lN5GtXhc\/s1600\/019%2B-%2BMorels%2B%25284%2529.JPG\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"WIDTH: 320px; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5557040652515684098\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/_xdnxgKcsXfw\/TR6TB--aLwI\/AAAAAAAAHbU\/rT3lN5GtXhc\/s320\/019%2B-%2BMorels%2B%25284%2529.JPG\" \/><\/noscript><\/a><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\"><span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"><\/span><\/span> <\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\"><span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\">The second option, my mothers, was the crispy Belgium Waffle with fresh Berries and Housemade Vanilla Syrup.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">  <\/span>Simple in concept the execution of this dish was quite poor in my opinion \u2013 the waffle doughy and the vanilla syrup tasting identical to the pure maple syrup (not a bad thing, but false advertising) until blended with the dollop of vanilla cream atop the waffles.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">  <\/span>Admittedly the fruits were very fresh and tasty, however.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\"><\/span> <\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/_xdnxgKcsXfw\/TR6TWlglDmI\/AAAAAAAAHbs\/N6jfIv5oB44\/s1600\/019%2B-%2BMorels%2B%25288%2529.JPG\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"WIDTH: 320px; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5557041006456933986\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/_xdnxgKcsXfw\/TR6TWlglDmI\/AAAAAAAAHbs\/N6jfIv5oB44\/s320\/019%2B-%2BMorels%2B%25288%2529.JPG\" \/><\/noscript><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\">\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\">Opting for more unique dishes proved advantageous to my sister and aunt, the sooner ordering the Crab Oscar Benedict with Asparagus, Dungeness crab, Poached Eggs, and Citrus Hollandaise atop a round popover.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">  <\/span>Already hefty and artery clogging with the crab clearly cooked in butter and the lovely hollandaise with just a tinge of lemon, piercing the two creamy eggs with a fork added a whole new level to the dish.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">  <\/span>With white asparagus adding necessary fiber and texture the entirety of this dish was decadence well worth the calories.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\"><\/span> <\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/_xdnxgKcsXfw\/TR6TWKOJSrI\/AAAAAAAAHbc\/cRFiXqmDfqE\/s1600\/019%2B-%2BMorels%2B%25285%2529.JPG\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"WIDTH: 320px; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5557040999131859634\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/_xdnxgKcsXfw\/TR6TWKOJSrI\/AAAAAAAAHbc\/cRFiXqmDfqE\/s320\/019%2B-%2BMorels%2B%25285%2529.JPG\" \/><\/noscript><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\">\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\">The final choice, my aunts, was another winner \u2013 Banana and Mascarpone stuffed French Toast with Saigon cinnamon and pure maple syrup.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">  <\/span>With bread similarly shaped to that from the popover I gather the toast itself was actually a bread pudding style custard.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">  <\/span>With a thick layer of banana accented sweet cheese inside and fresh bananas atop the toast was first pan seared and then torch bruleed forming a crisp top that crackled on cutting.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">  <\/span>With plentiful notes of cinnamon and the maple syrup on the plate instead of being poured over top I really liked the flavor profile and presentation of the dish, as did my aunt who is not keen on maple as she finds it overwhelming.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\"><\/span> <\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/_xdnxgKcsXfw\/TR6TWUedzjI\/AAAAAAAAHbk\/21nsSQ66fEA\/s1600\/019%2B-%2BMorels%2B%25286%2529.JPG\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"WIDTH: 320px; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5557041001884667442\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/_xdnxgKcsXfw\/TR6TWUedzjI\/AAAAAAAAHbk\/21nsSQ66fEA\/s320\/019%2B-%2BMorels%2B%25286%2529.JPG\" \/><\/noscript><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\">\n<p style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\" class=\"MsoNoSpacing\"><span style=\"font-family:Calibri;\">With tax and tip the total for brunch would run approximately $25 a person \u2013 not a bargain compared to the $5 grand slam at Denny\u2019s that we passed to get there, but on par with the prices at Mon Ami Gabi and slightly less pricey than MoZen, Tableau, or Bouchon.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">  <\/span>With that said, while there was nothing wrong with Morels, it also didn\u2019t move me or wow me and at such a price I\u2019d much sooner take the elevator up to Bouchon at the Venetian than the escalator down to Morels at the Palazzo.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">  <\/span>The Croque, Frites, French Toast, and Waffles at Bouchon are simply better\u2026.and the eggs and crab dish I\u2019d have there on Christmas day left that Benedict a distant memory, regardless of how good it was.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u2026as it turns out there is more than one Morel\u2019s French Steakhouse \u2013 when I made Brunch reservations for our third day in Las Vegas I really had no idea\u2026not until we walked by the familiar fa\u00e7ade four days later &hellip;
