CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/-ECimBGPiFWg\/TYUFacM7HiI\/AAAAAAAAIZE\/yid_YmGp1yw\/s320\/034%2B-%2BBreslin%2B%25282%2529.JPG\" border=\"0\" \/><\/noscript><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-family:Times New Roman;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-family:Times New Roman;\">If one were to attempt to explain the \u201cboutique\u201d ACE hotel to a friend the descriptors would undoubtedly include brash, hipster, unique, and *gasp* affordable considering its location.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> <\/span>With a fresh flower man in the doorway, an eclectic souvenir store in the lobby, and more fedoras and skinny jeans than you can shake a stick at, the ACE also contains three eateries and a coffee shop \u2013 the most notable of which is the newly Michelin Starred \u201cThe Breslin.\u201d<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> <\/span>Owned and operated by April Bloomfield of The Spotted Pig fame and considered \u201cnose-to-tail\u201d and \u201cmeat-centric\u201d I have to admit the concept screamed \u201cgastropub\u201d to me, but a quick review of the breakfast menu also suggested I check it out to find out for myself.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-family:Times New Roman;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-family:Times New Roman;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/-n5SS-LxhIPc\/TYUFbvjsskI\/AAAAAAAAIZk\/pJyAaBvHOqM\/s1600\/034%2B-%2BBreslin%2B%252815%2529.JPG\"><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5585876887003771458\" style=\"WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/-n5SS-LxhIPc\/TYUFbvjsskI\/AAAAAAAAIZk\/pJyAaBvHOqM\/s320\/034%2B-%2BBreslin%2B%252815%2529.JPG\" border=\"0\" \/><\/noscript><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-family:Times New Roman;\">Taking the early train from New Hyde Park to Penn and greeted by far less friendly weather conditions than the day prior I made my way expediently to the ACE Hotel only to walk right past the main entrance before stopping at Stumptown and making an about-face.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> <\/span>Entering through the lobby entrance as the front doors were not yet open I was greeted by two young ladies at the hostess stand and led to a table without delay.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> <\/span>Opting to keep my bag and coat with me the bag took a chair while I took the booth and within seconds my water and coffee were filled and a menu presented.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-family:Times New Roman;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-family:Times New Roman;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/-YzYTCA8EJh0\/TYUFa-qAeYI\/AAAAAAAAIZM\/8x9EI6KE_oM\/s1600\/034%2B-%2BBreslin%2B%25285%2529.JPG\"><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5585876873876896130\" style=\"WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/-FmCruCp1sQI\/TYUFbLTedcI\/AAAAAAAAIZU\/unsQaJk7-xQ\/s320\/034%2B-%2BBreslin%2B%25286%2529.JPG\" border=\"0\" \/><\/noscript><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = \"urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office\" \/><o:p><span style=\"font-family:Times New Roman;\"><\/span><\/o:p><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-family:Times New Roman;\">Already well aware of what I\u2019d be ordering before I arrived I next spent some time examining the interior \u2013 heavy, dark, \u201cpub-y\u201d quite like The Girl and The Goat in Chicago, but significantly smaller.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> <\/span>With the kitchen wide open to public view and myriad animal sculptures of various materials and forms aplenty the feel was essentially a gussied up hunting lodge.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> <\/span>Sipping my nutty Stumptown blend it wouldn\u2019t be long before my server would arrive \u2013 a cute and bubbly young woman named Allison who called everyone dear, babe, or hun regardless of age or gender.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> <\/span>Pleasant, fun, and upbeat despite being the only primary server on duty that morning (all the while training another young lady, as well) I have to say that the service was great from her end but lacking from the ancillary staff as coffee often sat empty and required requests for a refill.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-family:Times New Roman;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-family:Times New Roman;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/-l56_1g1A7L8\/TYUFbSPRyII\/AAAAAAAAIZc\/Mc-gcgGSgrQ\/s1600\/034%2B-%2BBreslin%2B%25287%2529.JPG\"><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5585876879133493378\" style=\"WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/-l56_1g1A7L8\/TYUFbSPRyII\/AAAAAAAAIZc\/Mc-gcgGSgrQ\/s320\/034%2B-%2BBreslin%2B%25287%2529.JPG\" border=\"0\" \/><\/noscript><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-family:Times New Roman;\">With a soundtrack of stereotyped 80\u2019s kitsch playing overhead and orders placed it would be perhaps 15 minutes of reading my Relais &amp; Chateaux guide before my first course would arrive \u2013 the $18 Oven baked 3 cheese sandwich with house smoked ham and egg.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> <\/span>Thinking to myself that for $18 this had better be the best egg sandwich ever \u2013 well, I\u2019ll just say that if it wasn\u2019t the best, it was certainly close \u2013 this was a damned good sandwich.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> <\/span>With at two hefty slices of savory ham tucked between thick slices of buttered sourdough and loaded with cheese the sandwich was rustic and hearty at baseline \u2013 the addition of a barely cooked farm egg simply put it over the top.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-family:Times New Roman;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-family:Times New Roman;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/-nDHY3siYciw\/TYUF5MtV-JI\/AAAAAAAAIZ8\/3GQk7a7-YCM\/s1600\/034%2B-%2BBreslin%2B%25289%2529.JPG\"><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5585877393045059730\" style=\"WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/-RszcpadZyiw\/TYUF_Jlr9AI\/AAAAAAAAIaE\/kWc2Tt12Wg0\/s320\/034%2B-%2BBreslin%2B%252812%2529.JPG\" border=\"0\" \/><\/noscript><\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\">\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-family:Times New Roman;\">With Allison returning to collect my empty plate a new pair of diners sat down next to me and while browsing the menu I overheard them discussing my follow-up to the egg sandwich \u2013 the lady of the pair referring to it as the most decadent thing she\u2019d ever eaten for breakfast.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> <\/span>Described on arrival by Allison as \u201cthe devil\u2019s doughnut,\u201d the fried peanut and banana sandwich with bourbon and vanilla was most certainly decadent, but I\u2019d suggest it a creation from the heavens rather from below.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> <\/span>This time replacing sourdough with hollowed out brioche roll this sandwich was much more a doughnut and absolutely stuffed with bourbon and vanilla poached bananas and gooey peanut butter.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\"> <\/span>Topped with cinnamon sugar and powdered sugar as though it weren\u2019t already sweet enough, it isn\u2019t the most decadent thing I\u2019ve ever eaten for breakfast, but I think that says more about me than it does about The Breslin.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-family:Times New Roman;\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"font-family:Times New Roman;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/-CQNihwncTD0\/TYUF4QBgWhI\/AAAAAAAAIZs\/U_6jssnC7Qs\/s1600\/034%2B-%2BBreslin%2B%252816%2529.JPG\"><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5585877376755063314\" style=\"WIDTH: 320px;
