Original Chocolate Chip Cookie

Cookies & Cream Cookie

Pistachio Toffee Chocolate Chip Cookie

Candied Walnut Chocolate Chip Cookie

Although owner Steve Lewis tells an interesting tale of a wishful young man from the 1800s as the inspiration behind Gideon’s Bakehouse, the more pertinent details are these: 1) Expect a wait unless arriving very early at Orlando’s East End Market. 2) Six Cookies max unless pre-ordered. 3) $5 each. 4) Worth every minute, cent and calorie.

Sure one might be amused by shelves full of aged books and antiques, impressed by skilled staff-members, or maybe even a little annoyed that specials sell out quite quickly, but the moment teeth pierce that soft matrix of Butter, Vanilla and mixed Chocolates everything else fades away – how does the rim get so crisp while center harkens uncooked Dough?

Smaller than most folks’ bedroom, the Bakery’s output only gets better through additions, the Oreos inside and atop Cookies and Cream somehow blending right in with an expected increase in sweetness while the highly-recommended Pistachio Toffee or Wednesday-only Candied Walnut and a touch of Salt or extra crunch with a bitter mid-palate, respectively.
