Since 1973 Farm Basket has been a local favorite in Sin City, the outpost on West Charleston still going strong from 10am until 9pm daily even as other locations have come and gone across the years.
Owned by Billy Bayne and family since 2018, historic signage maintained alongside longtime catchphrase “Carried Away with Quality,” guests old and new will discover a concise menu centered on Chicken and Turkey served in various ways plus sides, drinks and Cookies.
Undoubtedly an icon, nearly 50 years of business a rarity in Las Vegas, service is friendly and fast while portions prove generous across Coleslaw, velvety Mashed Potatoes and the $6.99 “Gobbler” featuring Fried Turkey Breast on a Toasted Hoagie with sides of Cranberry Sauce and Miracle Whip.
Sticking to classics in the age of Social Media, @FarmBasketChicken occasionally adding contests or specials, Fried Chicken proves juicy whether as Strips or on the Bone beneath crunchy Batter while “Clucketos” see pulled Poultry wrapped in Corn Tortillas beneath shredded Lettuce and Cheese.
Known for housemade Rolls with Citrus Butter, enjoyable but inconsistent across a dozen, Chips come from Goods of Pennsylvania while Dessert offers Chocolate Chip Cookies that are fairly basic and also variable in terms of texture from one to another.
THREE STARS: Although Farm Basket suggests being “Carried Away with Quality” such low prices require sacrifice, the fried Poultry standing out while everything else is on par with what one might find at chains like KFC or Church’s.
RECOMMENDED: Gobbler, Chicken Fingers, Fried Chicken.
AVOID: Nothing was particularly “bad,” but Cookies and Rolls suggest poor attention to detail.
TIP: A second location has been purported in Winterwood Pavilion at Sahara and Nellis for nearly 2 years.
WHAT THE STARS MEAN: 5 World Class, 4 Excellent, 3 Good, 2 Fair, 1 Poor.
