Although there are 60+ PT’s Tavern locations in Nevada only one welcomes children, and that same location at 10940 South Eastern Avenue also plays host to Christopher and Michael Palmeri’s Naked City Pizza Shop.
A joint venture now one year old, and the brother’s second foray into Henderson after finding success across multiple locations in Las Vegas since 2009, it is a more recent development that a wall was installed to eliminate smoke and allow for family-friendly dining, this fact not yet widely known which is likely why things were fairly quiet on a Saturday evening at 6:30pm.
Dimly lit but well-polished, several televisions with audible play-by-play showing the Golden Knights as well as Notre Dame versus Georgia, it was after greetings from a friendly server that menus were perused, a concise collection of Naked City favorites joined by a handful of location-specific specials.
Comfortable for conversation without shouting, the PT’s half louder but entirely ignorable save for when guests enter or exit shared doors, it was not long before Appetizers began arriving, Buffalo Cauliflower named such due to fiery Sauce rather than the Palmeri’s hometown and Steak n Cheese “Egg Rolls” a fun riff on Philly for those who are seeking something different from Naked City’s famous Pizza Logs.
Happy to see Fries on the Menu, something not offered at the DTLV location inside The El Cortez, handcut Wedges cook up crisp whether “plain” or “loaded,” while the “suicide” version featured on DDD’s is also available for those who dare.
Not forgetting Pizzas, the famous Guinea and Rebel Pies both offered in addition to the ability to build one’s own, it was in two-halves that $25.95 “1/2 Sheet” overfed five diners, the Back Home Half fairly traditional save for Sauce and Cheese being mixed while “Buffalo 22” adds the sweet heat of Mike’s Hot Honey to a thick golden Crust, two types of Meat and White Sauce.
Finishing with a big bag of Zeppoles, exactly as they should be with bits of Pizza Dough lightly fried and covered in Confectioner’s Sugar, it is a tough decision between Chocolate and Mango as to which Dip is best, though considering the enormous portion size for just $5 there are plenty of opportunities to figure it out.
FOUR AND A HALF STARS: Something of a hidden secret, and definitely a place that could benefit from a bit of marketing, Naked City Pizza Shop inside the PT’s on Eastern earns high marks for not only slinging good Pizza and Bar Food, but welcoming the whole family with great service and plenty of televisions to watch the game.
RECOMMENDED: Steak n Cheese Egg Rolls, Loaded Fries, Buffalo 22 Pie, Back Home Pie, Zeppoles.
AVOID: N/A, though do pay attention to online menus as each Naked City location is a little different.
TIP: 11a-10p Sunday through Thursday and until Midnight Friday and Saturday, if the Golden Knights are playing expect them with full sound, and same for the Buffalo Bills.
WHAT THE STARS MEAN: 5 World Class, 4 Excellent, 3 Good, 2 Fair, 1 Poor.
