Valhalla Bakery
Guava Cheese Hand Pie
Brookie
S’Mores Bar
Nanaimo Bar
Celebrated for serving all-Vegan Baked Goods to Orlando since 2015, it was on the final day of a rough year that Valhalla Bakery was found slightly busy, and much like owner Celine Duvoisin’s Valkyrie Doughnuts the space inside Market on South proves compromised by servers who are borderline-rude and certainly less than thrilled by their job.
Not portrayed as “healthy,” Duvoisin’s decade as a Publix Bakery manager instead seeing her implement substitutions for Egg and Dairy amidst a multitude of home style sweets, it is alongside another meatless eatery and market that Valhalla operates from 8am till midnight with a menu prone to daily change.
Also part of St. Petersburg’s dining landscape, and well-regarded for Bars, Cookies and Cakes, it was on the heels of a Guava “Cheese” Poptart indistinguishable from one containing real Cream Cheese that three of the former followed, only S’mores falling a bit short as the Vegan Marshmallows were tough and rubbery.
Unable to overlook a male cashier who audibly sighed when asked to describe a “Death Bar” it was with dead-silence that another server dutifully packed additional items, the Brookie on par with Brooklyn’s original despite Valhalla Bakery’s self-imposed Ingredient restrictions while fans of Nanaimo Bars will be unsurprised that Duvoisin is a native of British Colombia.
