Il Cane Rosso
Iced Coffee from Four Barrel
BROKEN FARRO PORRIDGE – raisins, brown sugar, toasted almonds
CARAMELIZED CINNAMON TOAST – sea salt, sweet butter
A Saturday in San Francisco incomplete without a visit to the Ferry Plaza Farmer’s Market I decided to stop by Lauren Kiino’s Il Cane Rosso after sampling the best of what the market had to sample and with a well culled breakfast menu sourced from Ferry Plaza staples Acme, Dirty Girl, and Bellwether plus coffee from Four Barrel my small snack really couldn’t have been better. Beginning first with two pieces of toast from Acme slathered with butter and sprinkled with coarse sea salt and Vietnamese cinnamon at a mere $5 (A bargain compared to The Mill) before moving on to the toothsome and rich porridge made with Clover Milk and Butter, brown sugar, and an ample topping of almonds and raisins both of my choices were simple, rustic, and delicious – the sort of thing anyone ‘could’ make at home but all the better as a result of superlative ingredients and the fact that someone else is making it for you while you sit and people watch the market.
