Located at Recinto Sur 259 in Old San Juan, Café Cuatro Sombras is a favorite of tourists and locals for Puerto Rican Coffee, though even as most of the Island has begun to relax regulations this fairly sizable storefront continues to operate from 7a-8p daily as carry-out from the front door only.
Focused on Coffee, but also offering a selection of Baked Goods and Sandwiches, it was amidst midday sun and humidity that Cold Brew was requested, a fifteen minute wait seemingly atypical though the Beans are clearly well curated with a medium-roast liberating medium acidity and smooth undertones.
Forced to inquire about Pastries, as though the young man controlling the register did not wish to make a sale, smallish portions range $2.00 to $3.74 with the Brownie frankly dry while Guava Bread and Brandy Cake with drizzled Icing and complex aromatics are a far better choice.
