Opened in 1985 Tony’s Donut House has proven highly adaptable through the decades, the 24/7 space now in its second generation with the same family selling fried Dough, Cookies, Bagels, Croissants, Coffee and even Boba Tea.
Located at the corner of State and Florence in Huntington Park, a second drive-thru in Baldwin Park owned by the same team, it is upon entry that a diverse menu greets diners overhead while three booths allow for dine-in.
Quick service and fair priced, a no-frills setting putting Pastries in the spotlight, Tony’s Apple Fritter offers plenty of Fruit beneath its crispy glazed exterior while Crullers beneath Frosting find themselves eggy and soft but a bit oily on the tongue.
A good spot for classics, Buttermilk Bars with penetrant Glaze exactly as they should be, Tony’s Old Fashioned also fares well while a second Fritter with Craisins outpaces heavily frosted Carrot Cake that offers very little of the Vegetable but enough Baking Spices to balance the Cream Cheese.
