Debuted in 2015 Holey Toledough can safely be called Northwest Ohio’s first artisan Doughnut shop, owner Zein Moussa’s Food Truck-turned-brick-and-mortar setting itself apart with locally sourced ingredients baked fresh daily inside a tiny shop at 3812 West Alexis Road.

Seasonally inventive from a pleasant staff, 19 choices on a Saturday ranging from $2.00 to $4.00 each, obvious choices include “Homer” with Sprinkles and smooth Frosting atop Brioche while Girl Scout’s reminiscent “Samoa” finds Cake too dry and crumbly despite a flavor profile similar to the real deal.

Making Jam, Dough and Cream on-site, the “Ding Dong” Bismarck lighter than most with good Chocolate and delicate Whip, Cinnamon Buns feature god spring whether plain or topped as a “Persian” while Maple-soaked Pecan French Toast far outpaces the flavorless Apple Fritter which tries and fails to rethink something traditionally over-glazed, greasy and delicious.
