Whether on vacation or back at home it takes something special to see me walking in the rain and with that in mind as we walked through Williamsburg during a sudden storm without umbrellas the onus was placed squarely on the shoulders of Sam Mason and his team at OddFellows to be exceptional, a challenge to which the former wd~50 chef thankfully proved capable. Focused not only on the artisan but also on the interesting with flavors ranging from punchy Apple Cider and subtle Thai Iced Tea to smoky Chorizo Caramel and PB&J so yeasty that one would swear there was discarded crust dissolved in the house pasteurized mix it was with good humor that the smiling staff allowed us to sample our way through each of the day’s selections before settling on four small scoops and a house made waffle cone which we slowly enjoyed until the storm passed, each bite creamy and complex leading to smiles almost as large as that of the creepy monkey guarding the door.
