Located in the limited-access streets surrounding Buda Castle Ruszwurm Cukrászda is the oldest existing Pastry shop in Budapest, its opening in 1827 by Ferenc Schwabl followed by transfer to Vilmos Ruszwurm and later Ferenc Tóth before a nationalized period during the Communist era.

Always a Confectionery with a historic menu, the “Krémes” particularly famous inside a wood-paneled space, it is mostly tourists that currently fill a patio overlooking Matthias Church while enjoying Cake slices including Caramel-shingled Dobos and Esterhazy Torte.

Also offering Fruit Strudel, Sour Cherry recommended by a friendly server, Pastry fares well both here and wrapped around Cottage Cheese as Turos Batyu while the eponymous Linzer blissfully pairs Raspberry Preserves to Dark Chocolate.
