A DC institution if for no other reason than the location an early morning stop at Lincoln’s Waffle shop seemed just the thing for a rainy day during a government shutdown; easy parking, just the locals, and greasy diner food plus unlimited coffee while watching the passers-by outside. In reality a spot with neither ingredients nor service better than Waffle House but a few distinctive odds n’ ends such as scrapple befitting its region and prices on par with most spaces comparable I was actually surprised by the quality of both the crispy buttermilk waffle and the fluffy pancakes rife with bananas while the scrapple was a bit less flavorful than most; perhaps a plus to some.
