Vanilla Meringue Cake

Exiting Maude, but not slated to meet friends at Sotto until nine, my local pal suggested a quick stop at Mr. C’s to check out the crowd as well as some coffee, and stating that he felt the desserts were amongst the city’s best classics it was to a large wedge of meringue topped vanilla cake that we were treated, the moist crumb rife with vanilla beneath ethereal frosting while the scene itself resembled something out of classic Hollywood as tuxedoed gents ported huge plates of pasta to the ‘indoor sunglasses’ crowd.

Perhaps unworthy of the $14.95 shared dessert tab – let alone the $30 tariff inclusive of beverages, tax, and tip – but a fun stop none the less, it might be interesting to stop in to see a bit more of what Mr. C’s has to offer at a later date, the Dover Sole deboned tableside quite a performance piece from a restaurant known to have pleased many at its locations across the globe.
