More a brief update than true review, this ‘visit’ with CRAFTkitchen actually a long-overdue lunch with Chef Blinn somewhere far from Eastern Avenue, it was at the request of family back in Ohio that several bags of Chewy and Crunchy Granola were mailed eastward, the rest of the delivery consumed as a late-day snack and all of it as good as ever.
Now adding the skills of former Mothership baker Beth Ryan-Small to the fold, some of her work experienced as part of a Thanksgiving feast, suffice it to say that although Jaret’s Gluten-free and Vegan items had previously been good the quality has nonetheless seen an upgrade in recent months, the Vegan Pocket from this set impressing all who took a taste by way of ‘buttery’ Pastry, bold spicing and a pleasant consistency created by Beans, Cheese and pseudo-Chorizo that was indistinguishable from the real thing.
Moving next to one of CRAFTkitchen’s Valley-best Pop Tarts, the combination of roasted Apples and Caramel previously seen on Turkey Day equally crisp and crave-worthy at room temperature as it is piping hot, it was after reminding oneself as to why anyone would request Jaret’s Granola nearly 2,000 miles away that three new Cookies were tasted, the Chocolate-Pecan Crisp living up to its name in terms of texture while the small chunks of Dark Chocolate melted nicely into the mix.
Moving next to the CRAFTkitchen Sink, a combination of Pretzels, Butterscotch and Coconut found amidst the soft center tiptoeing a fine line between sweet and savory, those looking for something a bit less ‘subtle’ would be well advised to take a look at the Double Chocolate Chip and Salty Caramel round with a texture almost like Fudge or a Brownie straight out the oven while Chocoholics should turn their attention to the seasonal Buche de Noel that rolls moist Cake with smooth Buttercream before topping it all with bitter-sweet Ganache.
FIVE STARS: Ever delicious and with no signs of slowing down, CRAFTkitchen remains Sin City’s best spot for daily Breakfast while the constantly-changing Pastry case and Weekend Brunch keep things fresh and give the kitchen plenty of room to grow.
