Met by two friends for a brunch to kick off a day that had begun with a 3am wakeup call and drive from Phoenix and wouldn’t end until well after a midnight meal in downtown Los Angeles it would be hard for me to heap enough praise on MBPost to do the brunch justice.
Having been told by…pretty much everyone that the Buttermilk biscuits were the ‘must order’ of the menu all three of us were ready to judge and on a single bite the rumors were confirmed, and yet moving past the biscuits the real take-home message is that of the six items we ordered there wasn’t a single one that didn’t stand out as a ‘best in its class’ choice except perhaps the hand pies which, although good, simply weren’t quite as good as the rest.
From the beautiful location just feet from Manhattan Beach to the exemplary service, clean lined urban-chic space, wide-angle view kitchen, and exemplary food with copious coffee refills this self-described “social house” is unquestionably one of the best brunches in Southern California, and at least in my opinion, the United States.
