Having never eaten a mediocre bite across sixteen visits to CRAFTkitchen it was once again on Friday that Jaret Blinn’s Restaurant was called upon for catering, their fourth #supportlocal lunch again arriving on-time with everything as it is supposed to be including serviceware, plates, napkins and several wrapped trays.
Delivered by Mrs. Blinn, the mom n’ pop aspect of CRAFTkitchen sometimes overlooked given the sleek décor and menu of items that look anything but routine, it was as attendees filtered in that one particularly picky co-worker proclaimed her excitement about Jaret’s Pop Tarts, the sized-down Pastries this time filled with Strawberries reduced with Balsamic and perhaps his best ever in terms of complexity.
Happy to see elegant Chicken Salad Profiteroles again gracing the table, Pate a Choux standing up well to a creamy blend of Protein, Vegetables and Herbs, it was after bites of Coleslaw brightened by Golden Raisins that small Sandwiches took center stage, the “Turkey Gobbler” one-upping Capriotti’s thanks to housemade Oatmeal Bread and brined Breast Meat plus a rich Stuffing Patty while Lobster Rolls on soft Buns danced with Dill that seemed a bit heavy-handed at first, but mellowed with a squeeze of Lemon.
Again requesting the Caesar unassembled, though most opted to enjoy it with all the included accoutrements, it was saving room for Dessert that decisions were made between Cookies, Pumpkin Pie and Hazelnut Bars, each delicious in their own way but the season expectedly seeing two-bite Tarts gone first though the rich bites of Nuts and Chocolate flecked with gold followed close behind.
N/A: Making it blog policy to not ‘rate’ places based on catering alone CRAFTkitchen has always gone the extra mile to assure off-site dining is every bit as delicious as inside the Restaurant on South Eastern, and having recently celebrated three years serving guests the Chef and his team have yet to show any signs of slowing in terms of creativity or passion.
RECOMMENDED: Chicken Salad Profiterole, Turkey Gobbler Sliders, Pumpkin Tart, Strawberry Balsamic Pop Tart, Chocolate Hazelnut Bar.
AVOID: N/A.
TIP: See the website for sample catering items or contact the Restaurant directly with a budget and let them do what they do best.
