Dreamed up by the folks behind Moustache Baked Goods it was during the summer of 2014 that Noble Folk opened, owners Christian Sullberg and Ozzy Jimenez taking over a space in the plaza and bringing artisan Ice Cream and Pie to their home town.
Officially dubbed Noble Folk Ice Cream And Pie Bar, the location at 116 Matheson Street since joined by a second location in Santa Rosa, it is from ample nearby parking that guests will access a space lined by counters and shelves, support for local craftsman on display including porcelain and woodwork.
Staffed by youngsters, their mannerisms pleasant and all visitors on this day clearly from elsewhere, it was after perusing choices that several tastes were offered, an Eastern influence found amidst savory Black Sesame made with Vegan Coconut and Almond Milk while flavors like Lucky Charms or Maple Cornflakes are distinctly American but not overly sweetened.
Using local Cream and Ingredients as possible, all Fruits from Sonoma County according to signage, it was eventually settling on Almonds and Cookies both spiced with Cardamom that a combination was concocted, the creamy base on par with some of the nation’s best though the Scoops are fairly small for the price.
Also varying Pies seasonally, a total of five available whole or sliced, it was after reading of Noble Folk’s Heritage Crust that a pair of slices were picked, the Cherry Key Lime unfortunately muted by too much Whipped Cream while Peach Raspberry Crumble requested warm was tangy and delightful considering the fact that Stonefruits of any quality are rare in March.
