Casa Infante Via Toledo 258
Pastiera, Pistachio, Nougat
With several locations across Napoli, the most well-known on Via Toledo, Casa Infante is celebrated for thick Gelato made from seasonal ingredients, and thanks to high-fat Cream plus organic Eggs the texture may just be the city’s smoothest.
A part of Naples Food scene since the 1940s, and now in its third generation, Casa Infante began as purveyors of Almond & Pepper Tarallo, but having since grown wise to global trends the family now plies its trade in Pastry and Ice Cream.
Recognizable by branding, a push-cart selling Baba parked out front, it is immediately upon entry that guests’ eyes widen at some three-dozen flavors, classics present alongside decidedly “American” flavors like Oreo and more unique ideas such as Vesuvius Apricot Cake.
Served in a variety of Cones, or even Brioche, it seems prudent for first-timers to invest in tradition, and although the “Pastiera” flavor was expectedly sweet it still maintained balance thanks to its richness while Pistachio and Nougat offered some textural heterogeneity and more subtlety.
