Two visits over the course of three days and four single origin samples from the pourover counter plus a couple complimentary chocolate sables from b.patisserie – along with Heart in Portland Four Barrel remains perhaps my favorite roaster in the United States. From the smooth caramel and stonefruit notes of the Andino to the thick mouthfeel and melon tones of the Yirgacheffe Wote it remains impressive to me how much flavor the team at Four Barrel can coax from the beans using such a light roasting process but having purchased 60oz of coffee since returning to Phoenix I’m glad to continue exploring their technique as new seasons and new beans arrive.
