Conveniently located off the lobby of Condado Palm Inn, just feet from Ashford Avenue, Cookie House Coffee Bar & Bistro offers guests a respite from sun, sand and day drinking with friendly service plus air conditioning an added bonus atop items both sweet and savory.
Open 7a-5p Monday through Saturday, with more-limited Sundays a seemingly strange choice at the height of Spring Break, it was while awaiting a clean room that several Pastries and two Sandwiches were ordered following an overnight flight, the first of several Pina Coladas sweet but balanced while both the Spicy Chicken Buffalo Wrap and Mallorca-riffing El Criollito were decent, but nothing to write home about.
Moving on to Cookies, four of ten available flavors nicely textured but a round dotted with Dulce de Leche best of all, the first Quesito of the trip immediately proved why Puerto Ricans obsess over the Pastry while Cookie House’s Brownie was soft and rich, but a little too sweet.
Never passing on Cornbread, a moist Cake-like slice outperforming similarly presented Carrot Cake that lacked both Frosting and Spices, those seeking Cookie House’s best two sweets should go all-in on the Guava Cheese Croissant and Mil Hojas, akin to France’s Mille Feuille and here still crisp around layers of Dulce de Leche at 3:30 in the afternoon.
