Familiar with Salt & Straw since a trip to Portland in 2013, three visits in a week plus three to follow in Los Angeles and Venice, it was with “fanboy” status admitted that the new location in the Pasadena District was visited in late 2021, this season’s flavors not zany like those of Halloween or Thanksgiving but all impressive as usual.
Still Southern California’s hippest place for a frozen treat, the location opened just before the pandemic larger than others, it was finding the place empty around 11:00am that tastes were had of classics as well as novelties before making tough choices, vegan “Pumpkin & Gingersnap Pie” losing out to Gingerbread Cookie Dough as dairy simply makes Ice Cream better.
Additionally impressed by Cold Brew Coffee Cashew Praline, suffice it to say that even with stomach full there was still room for a scoop of Almond Brittle with Salted Ganache, its heterogeneity appreciable to anyone with a tongue while the flavor itself tastes like an old recipe passed down from generation to generation.
