Café Sacher
Iced Coffee
Apfelstrudel
Sachertorte mit Schlag
Gugelhupf
Purporting to produce their Sacher Torte via the original version kept in a safe since 1832 Café Sacher is something of an institution, its location inside 5-star Hotel Sacher Wien maintaining old-world elegance even as the Hotel has acquired all the modern amenities guests expect.
Just feet from the State Opera, a clientele of well-heeled locals mingling with tourists, it is from 08h00 to 20h00 that diners can indulge in Coffee and Cake or Viennese classics such as Schnitzel or Gulash.
Priced similar to other Coffee houses but steeped in tradition, gold reliefs and crimson carpet throughout, service is professional yet pleasant with Beverages served quickly and Cakes including frosted Gugelhupf brightened by Ginger soon to follow.
Dining on white marble with signature plates, of course, Café Sacher’s Strudel arrives sliced large but lacking the nuance of others in town while the signature Torte features a moist Chocolate sponge beneath a ribbon of Apricot and Ganache plus a Sacher medallion perched on top.
