With signage finally up for a newer, more complete version of Good Pie on Main Street, it seemed only right to #supportlocal with some of Vincent Rotolo’s top quality Pizza on Thursday, and just like deliveries one, two , three, four, five and six
the results spoke volumes about passion, personality and quality Ingredients.
Now serving Las Vegas for two years from the tiny space inside Pawn Plaza, and currently doing so with truncated hours and menu, it was exactly on-time that Chef Rotolo arrived clad in PPE, all items temperature appropriate and texturally uncompromised despite a nearly twenty-five minute drive.
Still making the walk-up work amidst COVID-19 precautions, naysayers regarding the location perhaps overlooking Rotolo’s passion and commitment to DTLV, it was largely old favorites that comprised an order arranged at $15 per diner, those arriving first nabbing plates of Salad, Garlic “Nots” and Meatballs that were gone within half-an-hour, as too were Desserts including Junior’s Brooklyn Cheesecake and Housemade Cannoli with Chocolate Chips on one end and Pistachios coating the other.
Moving on to the main event, Vincent’s previous four styles of Pizza recently joined by Sicilian, it was surrounded by a deep char that Fresh Mozzarella, Sauce and Pepperoni were found resting on a pillowy Dough, the texture decidedly different from his world-class Detroit-style with Cheese caramelizing the edges whether topped in housemade Garlic Oil and five Cheeses or crispy cups of Pork.
Again hearing diners marvel at how something so thick can be “super light,” a compliment equally applicable to Detroit or Sicilian, it was nonetheless predictable that those less adventurous gravitated to Brooklyn triangles topped simply, though that certainly is not ill-advised as Good Pie’s cornicione puffs up nicely and carries a good amount char.
Finishing with another “Good White” on Good Pie’s signature Grandma Crust, a bit more crispy this time than prior, suffice it to say that a current limitation in Toppings was easily circumvented with a touch of Hot Honey and although “Thats Dat Good Sh&t” is currently on hiatus Vince promises a return soon along with plenty other new ideas.
N/A: Making it blog policy to not ‘rate’ places based on catering alone Good Pie remains as enjoyable delivered as it is in store regardless of what Rotolo will tell you, and although the current take-out menu is a bit limited in terms of toppings the new Sicilian Pie and Cannoli are both great – as is everything tasted to date on the menu.
RECOMMENDED: Good Balls, Good Garlic Knots, Good White Detroit Style, Good Pep Sicilian Style, Good Pep Brooklyn Round, Housemade Cannoli.
