Having previously discussed Johnny C’s Diner here, plus two faultless catering gigs, it was an honor to call on Chef Church and his team for another #supportlocal Lunch on Tuesday, Sous Chef Sam Brooks again arriving on time with a bounty of items carefully packed and temperature appropriate from fifteen minutes away.
All-in approximately $20 per diner, a cost more than warranted by quality Produce and portions that guaranteed several staff members also went home with dinner, it was from a mix of new and previously tasted Plates that lunch was constructed, Johnny’s Seasonal Market Salad now leaning into Summer with Cucumbers, Watermelon and Tomatoes while the Caesar succeeds in its simplicity thanks to creamy Dressing, handmade Croutons and the best Organic Lettuce available in Las Vegas.
Again including two containers of housemade Pickles, delicious on their own and better atop “LJ3 Sliders” matching Beef griddled medium to Cheese and Special Sauce, those seeking Sin City’s best Chicken Strips no longer need to settle for Cane’s as Johnny C’s uses premium Poultry with a bold spice rub and brining to create something crispy, moist and complex even before a dip in one of five Sauces.
Specifically requesting Chef Church’s Cornbread, a whole tray of the Brown Butter and Sour Cream stunner arriving alongside two sticks of Honey-soaked Plugra Butter, hand-cut Potato Chips also proved popular while Dessert consisted of the upcoming menu’s Banana Bread French Toast with crumbled Pecans, whipped Cream Cheese and boozy Figs.
N/A: Making it blog policy to not ‘rate’ places based on catering alone, Johnny C’s combination of products and talent is nothing short of remarkable while the price-point is an undeniable bargain for quality Cuisine capable of pleasing a wide range of palates.
RECOMMENDED: Chef’s Seasonal Market Salad, Housemade Dill Pickles, Potato Chips, Brown Butter Cornbread, LJ3 Slider’s, Banana Bread French Toast.
AVOID: Staff say the Hot Sauce was weak, but it was plenty spicy for this Midwesterner.
