Set in an Eighteenth Century mansion replete with oil paintings, crystal chandeliers, and reportedly even a ghost I knew walking into The Olde Pink House that the restaurant’s local acclaim was largely in relation to the beautiful setting, but with a menu of ‘modern’ Southern fare it seemed a safe bet for a good meal in a city not particularly known as a culinary destination, and a good meal with great service, a tableside serenade, and an extensive tour is exactly what we received – each dish perhaps a bit more expensive than its quality would justify but a few, particularly the bread basket, fried oysters and fried pork chop particularly impressive. Undoubtedly touristy yet not in a manner that is contrived or offensive and a whole lot of fun I certainly would not suggest rushing to Savannah to visit The Olde Pink House, but if one happens to find themselves visiting these cobblestone streets of the old south a visit would certainly be in order even if just for snacks, a drink, and a tour.
