Recently celebrating three years since redefining French Pastry in Las Vegas it was for the fourth time that Rosallie catered #supportlocal lunch on Friday, a few old favorites and several new ideas delivered by General Manager Christophe while Chef and owner Jonathan Pluvinet tended to business in his native France.
Taking “Le French Café” to places nowhere in Las Vegas has yet rivaled and doing so since day one of opening by way of skill, quality ingredients and the sort of hard work it takes to convert a former convenience store into a Restaurant by hand, it was approximately five minutes early that the last of several trays and boxes were unloaded, a lack of plates or silverware necessitating some repurposing from past events but everything nicely presented and far larger in portion than the staff of twenty-two plus three speakers could possibly enjoy in just one sitting.
Specifically asked to meet dietary needs including Vegetarians and an allergy to Avocados, a simple Salad of Organic Greens starting things off for many with tangy housemade Vinaigrette, it was mistaking Tabouleh as Quinoa that others marveled at the lightness of what was actually Bulgur perfumed with Mint and finely diced Vegetables while additional guests dove headlong into fluffy Egg Custard served atop a buttery Crust that cut clean with razor-sharp edges using only a butter knife.
Known for peerless Croissants handmade daily, in this case fresh-baked and stuffed with four unique combinations of ingredients, it was after explanations from Christophe in his pleasant French accent that attendees were left to select amongst Prosciutto, Bacon, Duck or Vegetables, the Ham most popular amongst younger staff while those who took a chance on Duck were predictably impressed as were diners who indulged in crisp Pork whose salinity and smoke played well off crumbled Goat Cheese and housemade Fig Jam.
Not about to pass on Pastry from the man responsible for Jean Georges Steakhouse’s Brioche and several items formerly offered at Bellagio’s Jean Philippe it was as a massive upgrade on Cinnaholic that those still hungry divided up flaky Cinnamon Rolls lightly topped in Icing while others took two Tarts apart with plastic cutlery, the results not exactly gorgeous but not one person complaining whether they tasted Fruit lacquered with Apricot atop ground Almonds or tangy Lemon Curd with Preserves and fresh Raspberries.
N/A: Making it blog policy to not ‘rate’ places based on catering alone there is a reason Rosallie has made monthly #supportlocal appearances ever since the concept got started and whether sticking with the menu or allowing them to get creative there is no doubt even “picky” eaters will find something they like while those more willing to experiment may just find they like things they’ve never previously had an opportunity to taste.
RECOMMENDED: Duck Confit, Bacon and Fig Croissant, Tabouleh, Cinnamon Roll, Fruit Tart, Lemon Raspberry Tart.
AVOID: N/A
TIP: 7a-6p daily. Call ahead for pre-orders or catering and consider Yelp! on-line delivery for smaller orders if you can’t make it to the store.
