Frequently called upon at lunch it was for a last-minute #supportlocal Breakfast that Rosallie was tapped on Wednesday, Chritophe and Jonathan putting together ten of their new Brioche Sandwiches plus Quiche, Pie, Coffee and Pastries for a group of twenty-five and doing it all within half an hour of the Le French Café’s 7:00am opening.
Always impressive and rarely lacking for surprises, shelves recently offering Apricot Pies and Pumpkin Tarts in-tune with the season, it was immediately on arrival that staff filled cups with bold Coffee before making choices, many choosing halves in order to sample more variety and word quickly spreading that the Vegetarian Quiche and buttery Toast surrounding melted Brie and housemade Pesto were especially delicious.
Assuring first choice by way of greeting the delivery man, a focus on new Pastries followed by additional items after staff had made their picks, it was based on Almond Croissants still being warm-to-touch that one of Chef Pluvinet’s world-class Viennoiseries preceded a new Custard Danish loaded with fresh Apricots and Coconut shavings, the Fruit mellowed nicely by its creamy support while laminated layers remained crisp and flaky.
Working further bites in between job duties, a private office quickly covered with crumbs, it was after half of another Croissant packed with Raspberry Jam that attention shifted to more Fruit, the newly released base for French Toast riddled with Blueberries and baked like Bostock so that the top became lightly caramelized, though not the base.
Tasting a few Christmas Cookies next, memories of childhood roused as Grandpa was never without a bag of sugared store-bought shapes in December, suffice it to say that these buttery morsels are even more addictive than back then while Meringues shaped like Christmas Trees would make a festive gift for those seeking something exceedingly light and equally sweet.
Enjoying one slice of a whole Almond and Pear Pie later it was presumably a lack of labeling that saw Nutella Almond Pie still leftover as lunch approached, both it and half of a Croissant filled with the same rescued along with more Coffee and neither particularly “French” but still worth every calorie.
N/A: Making it blog policy to not ‘rate’ places based on catering alone Rosallie has twice proven invaluable in continuing to #supportlocal when last-minute issues arise, this spread in particular impressive thanks to the newly launched Breakfast Sandwich plus a vast array of Pastries that attest to Jon and Christophe’s continued commitment to getting better each day even though they are already Las Vegas’ best.
