From the day Jonathan Pluvinet opened Rosallie on South Rainbow the need to visit Las Vegas Boulevard for great French Pastry vanished, and although competition has sprouted up none are in the same class as what he and former Jean-Philippe maestro Christophe are baking daily.
Truly a tale of skill and determination, ‘Le French Café’ since expanding to Florida, it was early Wednesday morning that Christophe was found overseeing the Restaurant, a pre-order already boxed and ready including many old favorites plus one new item and a custom Birthday Cake.
A west side favorite, and conveniently located en route to the 215, it was ten minutes later that teeth sank into fluffy slices of Brioche slicked in Whipped Cream and Syrup, the Pastries that followed highlighted by Blueberry Bostock, Apple Croustade and an Apricot Danish.
Sharing the bounty, but not before taking a fluffy round topped in Nutella, it was later that three styles of Croissant all impressed with flaky layers, the Cinnamon Roll no less stunning thanks to peerless lamination and restrained sweetness that reminisces of what one might find in Denmark or Sweden.
Keeping the Cake refrigerated until later, its constituents unknown until cutting, suffice it to say that although unadvertised there is no doubt Christophe’s work will make a good impression, in this by way of a soft Vanilla Sponge supporting Berries, Almonds, Pastry Cream and an ornate Chocolate garnish.
FIVE STARS: Invariably a case of the best getting better, from the world-class (yes including France) Almond Croissant to French Toast that rivals Bardot (albeit thinner,) Rosallie remains a cozy respite with the sort of environment, service and Cuisine one simply doesn’t find many places these days.
RECOMMENDED: Almond Croissant, Almond Raspberry Croissant, Brioche French Toast, Blueberry Bostock, Apricot Danish, Cinnamon Roll, Apple Croustade, Palmier.
AVOID: N/A.
TIP: Follow @rosallielefrenchcafe on Social Media for specials at both locations, and for early pick up or custom work call the Restaurant directly.
WHAT THE STARS MEAN: 5 World Class, 4 Excellent, 3 Good, 2 Fair, 1 Poor.
