One of living in Las Vegas’ greatest perks is a steady stream of visiting friends & family, so with cousins escaping a dreary Ohio winter Hexx Kitchen + Bar seemed a perfect place to enjoy Brunch al fresco while watching The Bellagio Fountains.
Rapidly approaching five years since replacing Sugar Factory, and now two years post-separating into HEXX Kitchen + Bar with Alexxa’s Bar next door, it was on the sunlit patio that guests were seated at 11:00am, a record-setting day with every seat filled as Manager Ari Stotland led an efficient and friendly service team.
A “peak-Vegas” spectacle, conventioneers and drunken bachelorettes each accounted for, it was with temperatures hovering around 60ᵒF that guests perused menus, Coffee and Alexxa’s Sangria soon arriving and quickly followed by familiar favorites including a Cinnaroll Waffle, Granola and HEXX’s generous Fruit Plate.
Adding Pastry Chef Miranda Prince’s Coffee Cake as an Appetizer, the “Dessert” from Alexxa equally suited to be a starter despite Vanilla Glaze and salty Hazelnut Butter for dipping, those seeking something savory will be happy to know that a late-February menu change promises housemade Biscuits and Sirloin Gravy, which offered as a special on this day certainly proved an upgrade on the usual.
Continuing savory, both Parmesan Potatoes and Matt Piekarski’s Crispy Broccolini delicious in their simplicity, fans of Chilaquiles likely already know HEXX serves the best on-Strip while Chicken & Waffles are reliable, much like a Breakfast Pizza who’s Crust has improved substantially under the watch of Chef Carlos Buscaglia.
Assuming five “Desserts” appropriate for five guests, though perhaps not when considering what had already transpired, suffice it to say that both Chef Prince’s Blueberry Corn Cobbler and the Carrot Cake Pancakes are “must order” dishes, while Alexxa’s Amaretti Cookies with Olive Oil Ice Cream and Hexx’s Ginger Pear Panna Cotta are refined yet complex and light enough for guests with less prodigious appetites.
FIVE STARS: Let’s face it, when a Restaurant occupies real estate across from The Bellagio Fountains they really don’t need to try *that* hard, yet from the moment HEXX Kitchen + Bar debuted inside Paris Las Vegas a new standard for 24/7 dining was born.
RECOMMENDED: Fruit Plate, Carrot Cake Pancakes, Chicken & Waffles, Crispy Broccolini, Chilaquiles, Blueberry Corn Cobbler, Amaretti Cookies, Gnger Pear Panna Cotta.
AVOID: As usual the Food from Chefs Carlos and Miranda was great while service adheres to high standards, but one certainly hopes the Carrot Cake Pancakes’ pending 86 is only a rumor.
TIP: Open 6:00am until 12:00am while Alexxa’s Bar greets guests from 9:00am to 6:00am. See website for specific offerings at each during those times, and look for new Brunch items at Hexx soon.
