Described as a “Faith-based” business Abel’s Bagels opened late-2022 at 7150 S Durango Blvd Suite #130, owner Nick Pace of an organic juice bar in Roslyn New York hoping to bring “authentic” New York Bagels to Sin City along with other favorites from “Nook’s Organic.”
Inspired by the Bible’s Abel and Mr. Pace’s commitment to quality it is from 7am Monday through Saturday and 8am Sunday that Abel’s offers not only hand-rolled, boiled and baked rounds but also Sandwiches, Smoothies and Acai Bowls.
Sourcing good Ingredients and Coffee, high-gluten Flour the backbone of any proper Bagel, Abel’s collection includes all the favorites save for Egg while Cream Cheese is offered on its own or with up to three mix-ins ranging from Fruits or Vegetables to Macha and Peanut Butter.
Friendly in terms of service, though prone to selling out of top choices early on weekends, Bagels run $1.75 a piece with discounts by the dozen for specimens with a good skin and light crackle that quickly gives way to a chewy center that performs at nearly New York standards whether flecked in Seeds or dotted with Raisins.
Cookies & Bites – Almond Orange, Lemon Butter, Chocolate Tahini
A concept from Tao Group owner Lou Abin and Lotus of Siam’s parent Bua Food Group Naxos Taverna at Red Rock Casino Resort & Spa suggests “approachable Mediterranean Seafood-focused cuisine cooked from the soul,” though a recent look sees soaring prices and #influencer comps as the eatery’s main focus.
Fronted by Kallisto Oyster Bar and bathed in blue, an airy dining room of light woods espousing the Island from which it takes its name, Naxos’ menu comes from Chef Mark Andelbradt and ranges widely from traditional Greek recipes to Steaks or Salmon targeting tourists and Summerlin soccer moms.
Offering whole Fish shown on ice, plus fresh Pita baked in an open kitchen, it is from servers happy to up-sell that many will begin with “Dips, Spreads & Breads,” $55 up from just $30 a year ago yielding five choices from which Tzatziki, Coal-Roasted Eggplant and Beet-Citrus Tartare are all well-executed.
Inspired by the taverns of Greece, though oddly using Turkey’s Nazar Boncuk in marketing, a good majority of Naxos Wine and Spirits derive from the Islands while small shares such as Hamachi Crudo and Prawns wrapped in Kataifi outpace Zucchini & Eggplant Chips done better at Strip-stalwart Estiatorio Milos.
Not forgetting recently-added Saganaki balanced by Port Wine and Lemon Thyme, easily the most compelling dish not compromised by Vegas Steakhouse pricing, Lobster & Crab Diavolo packs a lot of heat while $28 “Appetizer” Octopus and $15 Spuds are laughable compared to spiced Carrots in cooling Yogurt for less.
Now offering brunch, just check the #gram for sponsored content, Naxos’ Dessert menu offers surprises including swirled Froyo mixing Ricotta Cheese with Olive Oil and all-new Soufra that eats like Galaktoboureko with Blueberries and Lemon Gelato on top.
Such an egregious knock-off that they got sued by Crumbl Crave Cookies comes from owner Trent English, phrases such as “Because adulting is hard” and “Game changer” strewn all over a fancy website of options that change weekly now expanding across the nation though franchising.
Sold on a back-story of the founders’ eating disorder, though one needs to dig deep below glossy boxes, stark-white interior and an intentionally familiar logo to discover anything but photogenic Cookies and Soda with added sweeteners, it was side-by-side in the same week that Crave’s “Horchata Churro” outpaced crumbl’s while “Lemon Bar” lacked Curd or anything to add moisture to a dry base.
Reportedly “crafted with top-tier ingredients that would make even the snobbiest food critics nod in approval,” Oreos, Biscoff and subpar Chocolate proving…something…it is safe to say Crave’s Chocolate Chip is slightly better than crumbl’s Milk Chocolate thanks to crisp edges and a soft center while “The Crookie” is another knockoff, but well-executed.
Cookie a la Mode – Chocolate Chip Cookie, Vanilla Ice Cream, Maraschino Cherries, Chocolate Sauce
Churros – Batter Rolled in Cinnamon Laced Sugar, Infused with Caramel, Vanilla Ice Cream
Described as “Las Vegas’ premier sports lounge & kitchen,” a location inside UnCommons thus far assuring a lack of crowds or the sort of patrons more commonly found at PT’s Tavern, General Admission casts a large net including everything from Burgers and Wings to Salad and Sushi.
“Defined to redefine what bar Food is and can taste like,” a lofty goal considering The George, B.A.R. and Sporting Life all nearby, General Admission checks starts the party right by checking boxes for plenty if TVs plus comfy seats and fit waitresses dressed in Spandex.
Graciously not playing iheartradio over the game, Knicks vs 76ers on half the screens while Leafs vs. Bruins occupied the rest, drinks ring in at expected prices while shareable Appetizers such as Loaded Nachos and “Tokyo Tots” outpace $3 per bite Gyoza reportedly filled with Wagyu Beef.
Sold out of Kettle Chips, one the options for General Admission’s Nachos, Carnitas Sliders fare well thanks to a slow braise and vibrant Salsa while both New York Pastrami and a Double Double Smash Burger execute their concept on a good Bun with appropriate Condiments.
Not exaggerating the “spicy” part of Spicy Rigatoni, the housemade Vodka Sauce providing quite a kick, Chicken Fingers atop taste a lot like those at Delilah while sides including Fries, Onion Rings and Street Corn are par to other Sports Bars in Vegas.
Sold on Dessert by the waitress, though Salt & Straw is mere steps away, suffice it to say those in search of Churros are better off at Mijo across the street while the “Cookie a la Mode” is thin and forgettable in comparison to Summerhouse or Crumbl both less than 1/2 mile away.
Born in Logan Utah Crumbl took the city by storm, their Instagramable rounds offered in thirty stores across six states by 2019 and now in all fifty states with six in Las Vegas including the Durango location opened in May 2020.
Created by Sawyer Hemsley and Jason McGowan, rapid expansion through franchising yielding mixed results from store to store as evidence by Social Media, it was after nine variable experiences that the westside storefront proved competent, the staff exceedingly pleasant whilst describing each choice.
Undoubtedly popular in part due to photogenicity, though a sterile interior oversells the fact that everything is made from scratch, the first thing those entering will notice is Crumbl’s limited collection of just six weekly flavors, though on this week the overly-sweet Chocolate Chip was replaced by Semi-Sweet Chunks plus Sea Salt.
Still a young company, so much success despite only starting in September 2017 certainly enviable, best bites came from specials that included “Blueberry Muffic,” Fruit and Butter well represented while the consistency was soft but crispy along the rim.
Offered onsite or via delivery from 8am until at least 10pm Monday through Saturday it was next that Churro doubled-down on a Snickerdoodle beneath Frosting while Triple Chocolate Chip was expectedly rich.
Again finding “Cake” concepts better than the Cookies by which crumbl made their name Peanut Butter Munch nonetheless fares well in comparison to a Classic Sugar Cookie that changes frequently without ever really being remarkable.
Last visited in February 2023 Friendly Donut House remains a Henderson staple for good reason, opening hours as early as 4:00am daily finding shelves full of fried Dough paired to pleasant customer service.
The sort of place built for Veterans to linger over Coffee, a strip-mall on South Boulder Highway playing host to regulars for decades, fans of classics will find lightly fried Yeast rings beneath Glaze while those who favor Cake can choose Vanilla or Chocolate with Sprinkles, Cinnamon Crumble or plain.
Also offering Longjohns and squared-Bismarcks, the later piped with Cream or Custard, Buttermilk Bars are textbook thanks to penetrant Sugar plus Icing in a variety of flavors while the Bear Claw and Apple Fritter are easily Sin City’s best and well-worth the drive, cost and calories thanks to the golden exterior and Cinnamon-spiced Fruit inside.
GLAZED DONUT BREAD PUDDING, three rum caramel, vanilla crème anglaise
BOURBON FUDGE BROWNIE, brown butter bacon ice cream
DONUT FRENCH TOAST, three rum caramel, crème anglaise
Ground-breaking since opening Carson Kitchen’s greatness has seemingly become so expected that many are prone to overlook it, but on Sunday Afternoon 124 South 6th Street was jammed-packed for a 10th Anniversary menu that continues to exude creativity, quality and the sort of Food that challenges without compromise yet always seems delicious and familiar.
Fortunate to have tasted every new plate at Carson Kitchen since summer of 2015, Chefs Harwell, Simon and team forever rethinking even longtime best-sellers, it was alongside Beer that dining began shortly, locally-brewed Mexican Lager well-suited to iconic Chicken Skins, bubbling Bacon Jam and Tempura Green Beans with Pepper Jelly Cream Cheese.
Continuing with more Skins, equally enjoyable today as in 2014, Grilled Oysters stand out thanks to Bloody Mary “Butter” while seasonal Salads are highlighted by Broccoli Crunch and the ever-reinventing “Young Beet Wedge”
Again rethinking Gyros as Tacos, this time with Feta Crema, chilled Asparagus proves perfect for 100+F temperatures or as an enjoyable side to seasonal Flatbreads including Hot Honey Mushrooms or Italian Sausage.
Herbaceous across both “Girl From Ipanema” and “Shorts & Blazers,” though “Bitter Yenta” takes its name a bit too seriously, Rainbow Cauliflower and Veal Meatballs have both made a triumphant return while Cory’s “Country Cuban” remains one of Carson’s all-time best Sandwiches.
Not forgetting skin-on Barramundi brightened by Red Pepper Romesco, nor Brunch’s Chicken & Waffle that makes good use of two Carson Kitchen classics, “two of each” Dessert proved just enough when talking about Las Vegas’ best Brownie and Donut Bread Pudding but maybe still too little for Banoffee “Pie” spiked with Bailey’s.
Referencing a recently heard quote “the end result is never better than the quality of the Product you start with” Roy Ellamar’s new restaurant titled Fine Company is everything one might expect and more than one could possibly hope for in Downtown Summerlin.
Mostly quiet since departing his namesake Harvest at Bellagio in 2021, as seasonal and smart a Restaurant as Las Vegas Boulevard has ever hosted, Fine Company finds Roy and team cooking familiar Food flawlessly while the service is top notch.
A full rebuild of MTO, the space now warm and open with wood punctuated by spots of color plus cookbooks, it is once seated that guests will find the recently-adjusted Weekend Brunch menu filled with everything from tangy Peppers to the twice-baked Banana Bread that Ellamar’s mother has been baking since his childhood in Hawaii.
Continuing a trend of Strip-Chefs flourishing in the community, Roy’s ability to prepare great Ingredients in a way that lets them shine amongst the best in Sin City, one need look no further than the aptly named “Heirloom Tomatoes” to understand as plump produe melds perfectly with Burrata Cheese, housemade Croutons and Vinaigrette.
Managed by Jamie Greco and backed by LEV, each server wearing a smile with comprehensive knowledge of the menu, the FILETO FISH Sandwich goes well beyond its tongue-in-cheek reference thanks to crispy Halibut and vibrant Remoulade while SALT & PEPPER SHRIMP burst to the tooth yielding sweet flesh.
Expanding the Sandwich menu at lunch, more composed plates now offered at dinner, Roy’s Burger excels thanks to good Beef while Caviar with crispy Potatoes proves an equally perfect pairing as Bacon and Eggs.
Undoubtedly a Brunch spot, Pancakes fluffy with hints of Malt complimented by top-shelf Syrup, Fine Company’s French Toast has disappeared which is unfortunate despite leaving more room to indulge in Desserts such as “Strawberry, Strawberry,” China Ranch Date Cake or an Ice Cream Sundae inspired by Pineapple Upside Down Cake.

Last visited in December, a total of twenty-five times prior including a yearly tradition, it was alongside two others on Thursday night that Jean Georges Steakhouse once again found the kitchen executing at a high level.
Led by Chef Sean Griffin since 2015, including a renovation that upgraded décor and delivery of pristine Proteins and Produce, guests entering Jean Georges Steakhouse are greeted first at a podium before being led to spot-lit tables, the mood upscale but never stuffy while prices track similar to other like-Restaurants that feature far less creative cuisine.
Decorated in gold, and buzzing with activity, it was at a table in the room’s center that carte blanche was deferred to the kitchen, Beverages quickly followed by buttery Loaves of Brioche and familiar appetizers such as Charred Octopus and truffled Wagyu Carpaccio atop Pate a Choux plus seasonal Bacon-wrapped Shrimp with Strawberry Moustarde.
Always inventive, Foie Gras with Rhubarb and textural elements absolutely stunning, Salads served as a segue to grilled Meats, the iconic Hearts of Palm and Tomatoes praised by all for its brightness while a delicate Caesar and Arugula with Asparagus also lightened the load before Strip and Filet of F1 Wagyu cooked Medium Rare.
Adding a few seasonal sides, sauteed Broccoli de Cicco juxtaposing Las Vegas’ best Fried Chicken, Veal Milanese performed expectedly well while Morels in Bacon Sabayon and Crunchy Potatoes with Ramp Butter threatened to steal the spotlight.
Rarely rethinking the sweet stuff Dessert again saw Creme Brulee with seasonal Sorbet plus old favorites down the line, Chef Vongerichten’s Chocolate Cake served with tableside theatrics and followed by Cheesecake plus exceptional Apple Pie.
Undoubtedly popular in part due to photogenicity, though a sterile interior oversells the fact that everything is made from scratch, the first thing those entering will notice is Crumbl’s limited collection of just six weekly flavors, though on this Monday several of the prior week’s choices were still available including both types of Chocolate Chip.
Still a young company, so much success despite only starting in September 2017 certainly enviable, best bites came from specials that included “Lemon Bar” and Maple Cream Sandwich, all the classic flavors well-represented including plenty of tart Curd atop the former.
Offered onsite or via delivery from 8am until at least 10pm Monday through Saturday it was next that Chocolate Cupcake riffed-well on the idea while Birthday Cake did the same amidst an abundance of Oreos.
Again finding “Cake” concepts better than the Cookies by which crumbl made their name”Monster,” Red Velvet and Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip were all fairly similar while “Cinnamon Square” is a fork or spoon affair worth every cent and calorie despite not being a Cookie in any way.
Born in Miami, with DNA from China Grill, Komodo promises Asian Fusion with a ‘club like’ atmosphere on the second floor of Las Vegas’ Fontainebleau.
A beautiful space populated by beautiful people, all of it coordinated fluidly by manager Nick Servedio, guests will first notice an impressive build-out of spirals and red backed by flowers and organic flourishes.
Assuredly a social spot with music that grows louder by the minute servers prove educated yet happy to up-sell, stories from Miami and Dallas suggesting Cocktails such as Pikachu or “Pretty Fly for a Cacti” that come in cute porcelain vessels to pair with $6 per bite “Tacos” on Wontons.
Priced similar to like-concepts on The Strip, spicy Edamame and piping-haot Milk Bread with umami-laden Butter each outpacing the usual, fans of Dim Sum will find Wagyu Dumplings on-par with Mott 32 while Lo Mein with King Crab and XO Sauce comes in a generous portion loaded with complex flavors.
Not about to miss fried Eggplant, reminiscent of Milos but with Asian flare, no table should forego Duck that endures a 72-hour process arriving juicy beneath shattering Skin nor China Grill’s “Bananas in a Box” reimagined as one of Sin City’s best desserts.
Despite signage suggesting Summer House Santa Monica the location inside Durango Casino & Resort is actually Lettuce Entertain You’s first branch of the “California-inspired Restaurant” out west, and regardless of what might be inside the Cookie Bar out front is a sight for sore eyes.
Taking a Spago-esque approach to Market-fresh fare, think Pizzas and Pastas plus plates from an all-wood grill, it is for roughly $5 each that guests will find a dozen or more daily baked good including everything from classic Chocolate Chip with big dark chunks to Rice Crispy Treats with or without bits of Oreo in the mix.
A natural feeling space bathed in light, Rockwell Group taking on LEYE’s first off-Strip venture, guests not fond of Cocoa will find “Birthday Cake” far outpacing crumbl’s famous Frosted Cookie while both glazed Lemon and an Oatmeal Scotchie eat soft and chewy within a gently crisp rim.
Recently impressing with a “Cinnamon Roll” Cookie, think fully-glazed Snickerdoodle with more Butter, Summer House’s Apple Oatmeal Cookie reminisces of Autumn Apple Crisp in portable form while both the flourless Chocolate Cloud and Peanut Butter round are faultless.
BLACK TRUMPET MUSHROOMS – Coconut Gelato, Caviar, Squid Ink
Opened in 2018, with Anima by EDO debuted early 2022 and since a JBFA Semifinalist, EDO Gastro Tapas & Wine remains Las Vegas’ most exciting Restaurant thanks to its unrivaled ability to look backwards while at the same time pushing boundaries rarely approached by off-Strip dining.
Inspired by Catalonian traditions, Chef Oscar Amador Edo’s upbringing in Barcelona gifting him with a respect for diverse Ingredients and an ability to craft poignant bites that highlight rather than hide them, it was as a party of three that guests were accommodated near the back, GM Roberto Liendo charged with creating a Menu Degustacion including both regularly offered items and nightly inspirations.
An acronym for “Extra Day Off,” though EDO itself is open from 5pm until 9pm daily, it was with most of the Restaurant’s other 32 seats full by 6:00 on Wednesday that things were underway quickly with guests enjoying Sparkling Wine alongside vibrant Gazpacho as well as one-bite Dungeness Crab Salad and Caviar atop Peppers and cooling Granita.
Less Seafood-centric than usual, a cone with the essence of Catalonian Tortilla followed by Pork Pate and a shaped Cracker, imported Fuet rests above delicate Tomato Espuma while Octopus “Head Cheese” gets a jolt from Vinegar-based Sauce.
Complimenting the next round with housemade Coca Bread and three Spreads, Bluefin Tuna with Rhubarb an inspired pairing before the more modernist sheet of White Asparagus over Mussels and Oysters, fans of “Prosciutto e Melone” will find lots to love about EDO’s iteration featuring Jamon and Kumquat Leche de Tigre.
Next jumping into spring with fresh Peas, faultless on their own but benefited by Sea Urchin and Caviar, Oscar’s Tarte Flambee outperforms its French counterpart via Wagyu Pastrami and just a hint of Jalapeno Oil.
Weaving traditional to modern in a manner not dissimilar from Jose Andres or even the Adria brothers, Octopus in a clarified Noodle peaking out amidst Romesco and Gallega Sauce, savories concluded with Iberico Pork – but not before signature Patatas Bravas and Bikini Sobrasada.
Innovative from start to finish, Anima’s Sake Panna Cotta making a palate-cleansing appearance, Desserts remain complex yet spectacular as Caramelized Pineapple pairs to Duck Liver and Hazelnut Ice Cream before an intriguing grand finale of Black Trumpet Mushrooms, Coconut Gelato, and Caviar.
Located adjacent Shanghai Plaza at 4240 Spring Mountain Road California’s Mr. BBQ entered a growing All-You-Can-Eat Korean Barbeque scene in late-2022, the term “P.A.Y.C.E.” suggesting premium quality at a price of $48.99.
Open 11am until 11pm or later daily, a lively atmosphere plus pop-art and booming music creating a scene completed by televisions showing sports, it was without a wait that six guests sat down to dinner where grills with hidden ventilation assure patrons won’t go home smelling like smoke.
Offering Soju Cocktails, Korean Beers and Soft Drinks, the former highlighted by one that tastes like Tang and another thickened by Yogurt, Banchan arrives fast featuring everything from Kimchi and Sea Cucumber to airy Potato Salad and marinated Radishes.
Served at a suitable pace with grills changed quickly Proteins run the gamut from Prime Ribeye to Galbi, the Wagyu Beef Tongue previously unseen but entirely delicious as was the Pork Jowl and Belly.

Debuted in 2018 amidst more Pho Restaurants than one would assume necessary Cô Anh Sandwich & Noodle Kitchen takes on traditional Vietnamese fare without relying on just Bone Broth with Herbs, the tiny dining room between Honey Pig and a Tea Shop instead featuring everything from housemade Bread and Pork Belly to Bún Riêu complete with Blood Cubes.
Operating without a website or Social Media, all 28 seats nevertheless filled six days a week from 8:00am until 4:00pm, the abundance of Vietnamese diners suggest immediately that Cô Anh is doing something right and this is soon confirmed by golden Patê Chaud filled with near-molten Pork.
A larger menu than one might assume for such a small kitchen, Hainanese Chicken oddly present alongside several types of Bánh Mì served on freshly made Bread, Appetizers include delicate Spring Rolls sporting grilled Pork Sausage and Bánh Bột Chiên Trứng beneath grated Egg Yolk.
Popular for Egg Soda, though those looking for something a bit more familiar can select Hot Tea or Vietnamese Ice Coffee, Meatballs come a bit too tightly formed in complex Broth while the aforementioned Bún Riêu and Hủ Tiếu Đồ Biển are a bargain considering the abundance of Seafood and portions easily shared by two.

Open from 11:00am until 9:00pm daily at Suite 110 of 6115 South Fort Apache Road, and Sin City’s best place for Barbecue ever since the Henderson original debuted in January 2016, it was for dinner Thursday that the smell of Big B’s Texas BBQ filled the downstairs, family quick to gather for an abundance of smoked Meat, Dessert and Sides.
Named after its Pit Master and changing the long-held belief that Las Vegas is not a Barbeque town ever since the original opened, Big B’s Texas BBQ features the work of Brian Buechner and Natalia Badzjo, the husband and wife team taking a hands-on approach to every aspect of the operation from build-out to driving in fresh piles of wood as needed from the Lone Star State.
Available for dine-in, take-out, catering and delivery, all presented by one of the most pleasant staffs in town, over-ordering is easy regardless of preference for Pork or Beef including Ribs, pulled-style or Brisket with a good smoke ring whether fatty or lean.
Texas through and through, the aforementioned wood just one reason why Big B’s Proteins outpace growing competition, sides are highlighted by Creamed Corn and thick-cut Onion Rings plus Sin City’s best BBQ Beans and Mac n’ Cheese.
Never forgetting Cornbread that seems to get better every time Dessert is a pick ‘em including Pecan or Apple Pie, Chocolate Cake or fresh made Banana Pudding as good as any one will find down South.
Risen like a phoenix from the ashes of Ramir Bolanos DeCastro’s beloved Purple Potato it is as a Bakery that the former Yonaka Chef’s legacy continues to grow via Donuts, Cookies, Ube-based treats and Filipino Pastries.
Previously offered for delivery or takeout only, but now brick and mortar at 6370 W Flamingo Rd #20, it was Tuesday that sixteen items were procured for tasting and shared by a group during birthday festivities.
Never actually gone from the local food scene, the rebranding of Yonaka and Purple Potato followed by a consulting gig at McCarran, Chef DeCastro’s current lineup continues with Croissant, Ring and Polvoron Bismarck Donuts, this day featuring a dozen varieties ranging from Pistachio to Cookie Butter and several styles featuring Flan.
Also adding a Churro French Maple Layered Donut for colder weather, complete with Whipped Cream, fans of Coconut should still head straight for lavish Young Coconut Pie or the daily-special Donut when available.
Scaling back “Monster Cookies” to approximately 4” Ube features a crisp rim and molten center while additional specials such as the Tres Leches Cake and Salted Chocolate Yema Brulee Pie sell out early for good reason.
Designated as the 24-hour spot for sweets and savories inside Fontainebleau Chez Bon Bon brings French heritage to Las Vegas by way of the original Miami landmark.
Led by Joseph Leibowitz and Patrice Caillot, members of Fontainebleau Las Vegas’ executive team, it is inside the brightly lit space that guests will find everything from Sandwiches to Viennoiserie plus a full-fledged Crepe station ready to prepare Ham and Cheese or Strawberries in Cream.
Serving La Colombe Coffee at prices comparable to Starbucks Monday morning found business slow, and although the Blueberry Muffin was fairly basic one would have a difficult time deciding whether a thick Almond Croissant, Blueberry Cream Cheese Danish or laminated Cinnamon Roll is best as all compare favorably to Dominique Ansel and Bouchon.
